The Circle is the guiding council of the warriors group known as The Companions. The Circle is composed of the the senior and most skilled members of The Companions. As The Companions operate with no leaders, those in The Circle serve as teachers and advisers to other members of The Companions. The head of The Circle is the Harbinger, who is Kodlak Whitemane. The Harbinger is the head adviser of the group whose word carries the most weight among The Companions. It is possible for the Dragonborn to succeed Kodlak's position as Harbinger in the Glory of the Dead quest.
Every member of The Circle possesses the Beast Blood. In order to be inducted into The Circle, the Dragonborn must take on the Beast Blood as well, as seen in The Silver Hand quest.
