While in Kynesgrove or Steamscorch Mine, the Dragonborn can strike up a conversation with Roggi Knot-Beard. During this conversation, the miner mentions that he has lost his family shield. The Dragonborn can then offer to find it for him.

After finding and returning the shield, Roggi rewards the Dragonborn with an increase to the Blocking skill and becomes available as both a follower and potential marriage candidate.
