Walkthrough[edit | edit source]

You will receive this quest after completing 5 Radiant Thieves' Guild quests in the city of Whiterun.

Speak to Olfrid Battle-Born[edit | edit source]

After getting this special contract from Delvin Mallory you need to go to Whiterun and speak to Olfrid Battle-Born. He will tell you his friend Arn has been arrested for drunkenness and is awaiting being sent to Solitude where he will be given an unmeasured punishment.

Forge the prison registry[edit | edit source]

Enter the Dragonsreach and go to the Jarl's Quarters, specifically the steward's chambers, near Proventus Avenicci's bed, and forge the prison registry to provide Arn with a new identity.

Steal the letter incriminating Arn[edit | edit source]

Still in the Jarl's Quarters, enter the Jarl's office and steal the letter incriminating Arn from the desk there.

Return to Olfrid Battle-Born[edit | edit source]

Return to Olfrid Battle-Born, who will be quite thankful for helping his old friend, and reward the Dragonborn with a Ring of Peerless Lockpicking. Furthermore Oldfrid will support the Thieves' Guild in Whiterun.

Consequences[edit | edit source]

Delvin Mallory will be pleased with the outcome, assuring the Guild's foothold in Whiterun.

He will also mention that the blacksmith Vanryth Gatharian has taken up residence in the south cell, just outside of the Ragged Flagon.
