  • Armour is spelt with the American version of the word in game: "Armor". Made three changes.
  • Removed "in skyrim" from the first sentence. As this is a Skyrim Wiki website, it should be taken for granted that the information in this Wiki is based on the game.
  • Removed "such as" from third sentence as the list being referred to is complete, not just a partial selection of slots. Reworded sentence also.
  • Renamed the categories that Armor, or what I deem more correctly described as Apparel (see discussion hereunder), is dived into as the four categories correctly named in-game as: Helm, Gloves, Armor (Chest and Legs), Boots.
  • Removed "There is no requirement for wearing any Armor."
  • Reworded the last sentence. The original statement is true: Armor items can be difficult to get. However this does not explain exactly how Armor is gained. More specifically: Armor can be bought from Armor Vendors, gained through Quest Rewards by completing Quests, crafted with the Smithing Skill, looted from corpses or containers, or picked up directly from the world surroundings.

I have made these changes in the hope of making the page more precise, definitive and unbiased. The nature of a wiki, I believe, is to reduce and refine it's articles over time while while retaining all relevant information. I hope the above keeps in line with the spirit of this statement and I hope that others can improve on this article while also keeping to this philosophy. Apologies for any mistakes, omissions or misinformed information. Kudos to the original poster for starting the Wiki process!

For Discussion:

  • In my opinion this page should be more correctly named the broad category of Apparel. Apparel is the descriptor, as given in game, to items worn by the player which I think this page is trying to explain. The word Armor is used in game only to further describe the item of Apparel being worn. For example Dwarven Armor. However, one variance to this is the way the various Apparel types are described through the Smithing Skill tree, for example Dragon Armor. Perhaps on afterthough, Armor should redirect to this page which should be called Apparel. Let me know what you think!
On further thought, the above is not entirely correct. More specifically, in my limited experience (or at least imo :P), the word Armor is used in-game in two ways:
  • It is a descriptor used in naming Apparel worn by the Character which covers the chest and leg areas.
  • In the Smithing skill tree, the skills required to craft various types of species categorised Apparel are referred to as Armor Smithing types.
    • So...I propose that when a browser of this wiki searches "Armor" he/she gets the Armor ambiguity page that offers the following page titles:
      • Apparel A list of all Apprel items that can be found in the game, now there's some wishful thinkin'! :D — wish granted! — Game widow (talk) 23:23, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
      • Smithing Apparel A list of all smithing items including sets, this will cover the the use of the word Armor when describing Smithing Apparel Sets.
      • Armor (A list of all Chest Leg covering Apparel types)
        • Again, let me know what you think on this!

  • Apparel reduces damage taken. Any info that can be added to this page to help the calculation of damage reduction based on the following list (which I imagine is not complete) would be very helpful:
    • Damage Type taken (e.g. fire, physical, etc...)
    • Level of attacker
    • Level of player
    • Armor rating of player
      • Looking forward to the list of addons that can help with this or any actual released info that you have to share to help come up with formulae for this.

First of all, this isn't a page, it's a category, and it is a subcategory of the broader Category:Apparel. While in the game these items are identified as apparel, people are more likely to search for Armor. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 09:47, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
