Molag Bal is the daedric prince of Domination. He rules the plane of Oblivion known as Coldharbour, and his primary rival is Boethiah.

To represent his personal motif of Domination in the material world of Nirn, he created Vampires out of the sentient races there, thereby bringing into existence the most feared and storied of all undead. This is the root of his rivalry with his fellow Daedra Lord Boethiah, who despises all undead. Boethiah charges her followers to destroy all undead, particularly vampires.
